On writing
My wish for myself in the new year is to continue to discover my swan voice. To being firmly, over and over again, as many times as it takes. Because this is not an easy feat and growing up is a lifetime affair.
To keep moving ahead we need to see each other in the eyes of others as in kind, compassionate mirrors. It feels to me that more and more this is a very high commodity these days.
There is no way to understand whether a space or a person is safe except venturing, risking a small part of your story with them, all the time aware that you can be embraced or you can be pushed away.
And sometimes it strikes me that words that were spoken around “the way we do things”, promises made in the relationship were just that, words. The signpost is always the way these encounters make me feel.
What was it about my newly acquired knowledge of him having experienced unimaginable pain that completely shifted my perception of him as well as the way we interact?
