Death is life’s best teacher

I must admit that the first time I heard this, I resisted it fully – DEATH? the same death we all fear and that spreads a feeling of dread among so many? The same death who steals our loved ones and leaves us in a pool of tears? It seems so.

If you knew you had only 24 hours to live, what would you do today? If you knew that this is your last day in this lifetime, who would you call? And the even better question: what are you waiting for?

I am meditating over this today and, while I get that it is unrealistic to hope that I would entertain this philosophy for the rest of my life, these are questions worth asking over and over again. If nothing else, this will help me enjoy the moment and live my life as an accumulation of meaningful and fully lived experiences and not as a waiting room for something grand which may never come.

So, if you knew you had only 24 hours to live, what would you do today? What are you waiting for?
